It's really the Fed at this point that's kept the market in check. The historic conversation between the Fed and the markets has become a bit of an argument over whether there's really inflation, and whether we need those rate hikes.

Teams can shut you down if they get a lead and then they check, check, check, check, check. Well if we come out and get going, they've got to open it up to try to score. So that's a real focus for us - we have to start good. Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson.

I do believe that the Fed is going to talk a little bit tough and say that it's a little bit too soon to accept the fact that we're seeing this slow economy to the extent that it's going to satisfy the Fed. And I believe that is what is going to keep the market in check. And it's another situation the Fed wants to try to control. They do want to keep this market in check. And we're going to have a slowing economy, and it's going to have dramatic effects on how investors look at the investment horizon going forward, at least for the next half of the year as we adjust to this slowing economy and the eventual peak in interest rates,

These numbers truly reflect the growing competitive imperative of the Check 21 advantage and our leadership position in the market. And we are now only at the beginning of what Check 21 will mean for banks, corporate customers and the consumer.

The Fed is going to look at this number and go full-steam ahead with 25-basis-point increases at its next two meetings to keep inflation in check, ... This is a pretty good payroll number for September. The market dodged a bullet with this report.

Really, everything you can point to is showing that you have inflation in check. Inflation is less of a concern, rising interest rates are less of a concern and I think sentiment in the market has turned around.

Check Point is highly profitable, which is good in this kind of market, and they're only getting more profitable, so they can't really invest in their business at levels that keep up with the revenue growth. It's a big plus that you're taking about a company that has 45 percent operating margins and investors can actually see real earnings.

I made the point that the president doesn't have a blank check. He didn't choose to engage me on that point.

We walked High Point the last couple of shows ... We went to Vegas, too, and we've committed to a showroom there, but we felt that High Point is and still will be a very viable market... (Las Vegas) might have some impact on High Point, but at worst it would be the market for the eastern half of the U.S. But I believe there's room for two national markets.

The big risk is on the downside, but the market is ignoring a multitude of things they should be concerned about, such as the deficits and the weak labor market. We are getting to a point now where so many stocks are so overvalued that it is ridiculous and somebody at some point is going to say 'Mummy, the Emperor doesn't have any clothes on'.

Antler quality was certainly up this year. I've seen the evidence at two or three wildlife check stations that I'm real familiar with. One of them that used to check one or two exceptional bucks each year had three or four this year, and I'm talking about bucks scoring in the 150-point class.

If you're out of the market you need to be in the market if you're saving for your long-term retirement or for other elements, ... People have been waiting on the sidelines, not committing as much new money. I don't think you should be investing next week's rent check, but your long-term investment is going to really grow in the market, and technology will lead that.
