We had a come-from-behind homecoming win that year that really stands out in my mind. One of the games, we were really down at halftime. He really put on a show in the second half, and we came back and beat West Georgia.

If we beat Georgia Saturday, trust me, the headline Sunday is: 'Can you beat two BCS teams back to back?' ... No matter what happens, two minutes after Georgia, I'm going to say, 'Guys we got Oregon State. You better flush it.'

When I came here there was just a handful of people in the stands at games. This year's Purple Growl game (the school's winter homecoming, which drew more than 4,000) was incredible, though. It's awesome to see the change.

They [N.C. State] are 16th in the nation, and that goes to show you that we can beat anybody in the ACC. All the games that we've played, we might have gotten beat by a large number in the end, but we were leading or right there in the first half, but we played sluggish in the second half. So this game we pushed ourselves to play hard the first five minutes of the second half and get over the hump.

Beating Miami was the biggest win I've been a part of here. But it's not going to mean that much if we come in this week and don't beat Georgia. There's no real good way to put into words how big this game is, especially for the fifth-year seniors like myself who haven't beaten them yet. We don't want to say that we never beat Georgia.

Our only loss was in the last game at USC. We were up 17-0 at halftime but they came back and beat us, 20-17. And it cost us, too, because back then Notre Dame didn't go to bowl games.

It's bragging rights. When you go back home, you have to hear everybody talking about, 'Oh, we beat y'all.' We already lost to Georgia Tech, so we can't lose to Georgia, too.

We owe those guys. They've taken seven games from us this year. We want to prove to them that we can beat them. If we do that — and we have the confidence to do that — we'll show that if we get into the playoffs, look out, we can beat anybody.

That was probably the biggest moment of the game. I took a timeout when we were down 11 and I challenged my kids. I told the, 'Show me how much heart you have. Let's at least cut (the deficit) in half.' We got it down to six quickly and then it was, 'Let's tie it before halftime.' When we got to halftime and we were down by one we had the momentum.

We always talk about at halftime, you've got to come out strong in the fourth quarter of close games. You've got to get it in your opponent's mind there's no way you're going to let them get back in the game.

We didn't play our best in the first half. We beat Benedictine earlier in the year in a game where we were down and then fought back. We were also down by nine against North before coming back to beat them.

We are in a good momentum swing right now. Our offense and defense are clicking right now. To beat West Georgia, we need to contain their guards.

They're a very athletic team. She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines. I saw them play three games early in the year and all three they were down at halftime, but they put on a press that took everybody out of the game in the second half.

Looking back over my 30-year career I have to go back to the 1987 regional finals against Cairo to find as big a comeback. We were 15 down at halftime against the fourth-rated team in the state and beat them by two. I have been there before, but this is as big as any I've been involved in.

Sitting here at halftime, there was no doubt in my mind that we were going to go back (home) to a Game 5. I knew we had some work to do in the second half, but I felt really confident. All of a sudden we were down, and then it was like, 'What happened?' It just didn't happen for us.
