I had expected a market correction of an almost 10 percent fall sometime between January and March.

Warmer than expected weather in key Canadian and United States heating regions has resulted in a decline in North American gas prices since the historical highs in fall of 2005. Natural gas market prices respond to supply and demand. In the fall, reduced natural gas supplies due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita and expectations for a cold winter led to high prices. Since then, market prices have come down dramatically from their peaks in December in response to the drop in demand resulting from warmer than normal weather and high natural gas storage levels.

I think we have a little bit of a correction here. The market was up just over 30 percent (for the year) as little as two weeks ago. A 5 percent correction is not really all that unusual.

The pitch of the Nikkei's rise has been quite steep, so after its gains a slight correction was probably in order.

I don't think we're in a correction but I think we're in a very necessary leveling off period. A correction is probably over 10 percent down from the current levels and I don't think there's any reason for us to see that, but I do think given that the fact that the markets went up 7 or 8 percent in less than two months of the new year that we have to have perhaps have a couple of months time when the market doesn't go anywhere.

The correction on Friday eradicated some of the bullish consensus. It's the nature of this market to correct in an abrupt, steep but short-lived fashion.

The stock market was clearly in the overbought zone and a correction was long overdue. I think we should look at today's fall as the beginning of the correction process.

It's just a little bit of a correction on the yen front. The Nikkei (stock market average) was down quite sharply overnight but everything points to a stronger yen still developing.

It's not like prices are going to fall 72 percent or 39 percent. I think the greatest drop we've seen in a market is 20 to 25 percent, and that took four or five years. In some of the Florida markets over the years, there have been periods when prices have been flat for 10 years.

Additionally, we are seeing wholesale prices for natural gas to drop and expect approximately an 11 percent decrease in February.

Of course I was completely surprised by his statement. He seemed very firm about it. It's an abrupt setback. But we're going to move forward.
