In much of the policy debates about fatherhood and marriage, it has been assumed that two-parent families are better for children than one-parent families, ... But a number of studies now suggest that the well-being of children in mother-stepfather families is no greater, on average, than in single-parent families.

Eliminating state income taxes on working families with poverty-level incomes gives a boost in take-home pay that helps offset higher child care and transportation costs that families incur as they strive to become economically self-sufficient. It's taking place in all the areas where single-family homes are becoming unaffordable for your average first-time or middle-income buyer. Not that many people can afford a half-million-plus for a starter home.

Most young people and their families will go to wherever the treatment is based. But it does create enormous challenges particularly for anyone who is on a low income or is perhaps a single parent . . . There's more to it than really meets the eye. Our area is economically depressed. Our citizenry is becoming young families, low income, and senior citizens, fixed income. Other than Grand View and schools we don't have lots of employers providing good paying jobs.

This has clearly been the year of the condominium for Massachusetts real estate buyers. Massachusetts, like other areas of the country, experienced a phenomenal growth in real estate prices over the past few years, especially in single-family homes, but eventually price outstripped demand and a correction was inevitable. Those who couldn't afford to buy homes turned to condos.

The fundamental problem is they simply don't save as much oil as they could. They fall far short of what's technically feasible and economically feasible.

In many ways, Carman is quite typical of people in our program. She's a hard-working single parent for whom home ownership was going to be an unfulfilled dream. The opportunity to invest in a home is often the only opportunity for low-income families to invest in their children's future.

It was a very, very busy clinic. When they first started out it was really geared towards lower-income people who couldn't afford to go to the doctor.
