He's like an East Village street punk.

In 1969 I hung a Fifty Foot Brassiere on the US Treasury Building to poke fun at leering Wall Street workers and placed grotesque Statues of Liberty in Astor Place in the East Village as a war protest.

We've always wanted to live in the village. This street offers some good-size houses, big yards. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her. Really kind of private and quiet, but just a few steps away is the hustle and bustle of the village.

We're a punk band, not so much from a sound perspective, but I still feel like we maintain a punk approach to what we do. But (punk) is not the most accepting community, it's really rather conservative. So we felt like we had to go against that.

What they don't seem to realize is that this sewer project is going to go ahead and be completed. No matter how much they continue to vote against the levy, the sewer continues. It's such a shame. This money is used for their village and for the betterment of the village. We all need our police. We need our street people. We're going to keep trying but the bottom line is the voters.

Mostly, life in east Africa goes on outside the house. Except for storing your things or sleeping ... most east Africans don't spend much time in their house. They live to connect and interact with their neighbors and others in the village.

I'd been a Bowie fan before punk and used to get no end of trouble. I was always getting knocked about and having to run up the street, getting chased by people. It was horrible.

We call ourselves a punk rock band, but we really play stuff from before there was punk to after there was punk. We're more in the vein of what I would call anti-establishment rock 'n' roll.

The North End will be the largest private investment in the Park East corridor and will serve as a catalyst to advance the well-being of adjoining neighborhoods, in particular Water Street, King Drive and Brady Street.
