en The league is better all around this year, the competition is better. There's a lot of people with great talent that we'll see every night. We are the champions and everybody is gunning for us every night - teams are all bringing more intensity.

en If you think about it, teams are going to be gunning for us every time we take the field. We're the defending champions, and we're going to be have to be ready to play every night.

en To our advantage we play in a league that we play somebody tough every night. We never have an opportunity to take a night off. Their league is not as strong and doesn't face that kind of competition.

en This was a night of champions. Two teams went out and battled to the final seconds and Texas did a great job.

en In my three years coaching baseball this is collectively the most talent that we have had top to bottom in the lineup. Offensively and defensively this is the most talent we've had. This is February and it is a tough month. Teams are getting better; teams know how to take things away from you, just like we know how to take things away from people. en It is certainly tough competition. There may be some teams in the 4A that are as good as the 5A, but there are more teams in the 5A at that level. Night in, night out, it is tough. You don't get an easy game here or there like you do sometimes at the lower levels.

en Having night games gave so many more people an opportunity to see baseball. Once the war started, you saw a lot more night games being scheduled. In Washington, D.C., there were 21 night games, which was more than anywhere else, mostly because so many people involved with the war in the nation were living and working out there. Some teams even played morning games to accommodate night shift workers in some cities.
