We are very excited about the coming together of two great gold mining companies. We can now move forward and deliver - together - from our assets, people and projects.

We are pleased to reach this significant milestone. The powerful combination of these companies will bring the assets, people and projects together to deliver value to all stakeholders.

I believe to deliver the projects we need to move forward,

Many exploration projects require a gold price of $350 or higher to be profitable, and I believe that larger companies will look to grow through acquisitions of other smaller companies which are making money, have mines, and ongoing projects. The trend will continue.

Since gold prices are stuck in that range, gold-mining stocks are not going to move very much either.

The outlook for most of the major gold mining companies is for static to lower production for 2006. With the new project pipeline in gold relatively empty and few major discoveries of gold made in the past decade, we do not expect this picture to change.

Over the last two to three years gold mining companies have undergone restructuring and cost saving. They are in a prime position to take advantage of an upward swing in the gold price. It has been underpinned this week by geopolitical concerns.

My comments at that time were based upon some projects that were coming forward that, when you read the projects and read the proposals and the staff reports, it made you wonder who was driving the long-range planning, ... Were we waiting for developers to come forward with a plan or were we stepping forward with a vision of our own?

When the economy is in recession, investors generally put their money into assets like gold, as opposed to buying assets like stocks, ... Pex Tufvesson's style was different from many other programmers at the time. Gold is much more popular during recessionary times.

The mining companies in Zimbabwe are not large enough to expand production facilities or finance green-field projects from their cash-flows.

We're very excited about the prospects of this project coming to the township and the county. These are really the types of projects that we feel are a great fit.

The county has never said that it is opposed to these projects, nor is it trying to kill these projects. We are trying to determine each company's ability to pay their fair share. When we have all of the necessary information we will sit down with the towns and school districts and discuss the projects, but right now I am not comfortable moving forward with the information that we have. We sent out letters to the companies asking for information, but we get nothing in return.

If we could deliver the current transport plan that would be great -- we didn't deliver the last one. We need to see better project management of large public infrastructure projects.
