en It's a good number for the economy. Labor markets are improving, and that increases the likelihood that the economy will remain strong.

en There are some pretty good underlying fundamentals of the U.S. economy. A good Philadelphia Fed number will confirm the U.S. economy is solid and boost the dollar.

en I think this is an important first step for the central bank. They didn't want to lower rates too aggressively for fear of sending a signal to the markets that they thought things were completely falling apart.
