[Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.

Next thing I know, the both windows are getting smashed in, they're urging me to 'Swim out, swim out,' and I swam out and swam to the shore, gasping.

She'll probably have to swim about a 1:12, ... It feels a lot different defending a title than trying to take one. St. Joe swam great. I knew a couple kids on their team were going to swim like hell. They did. They really brought a lot of kids along this season, kids we'd never heard of.

We had a good effort tonight. A good swim. The team continues to swim hard in practice; the way they continue to swim in meets is a good reflection of how they're swimming in practice.

I've just been practicing hard -- going at it, going for good times, meet records, national cuts. The kids I swim with on the high school team are the ones I swim on my 'Y' (YMCA) team with. They push me. So it's been a great year.

We got both the relays in the consolation. They're swimming tomorrow. That's what we're shooting for, for them to get another swim. They swam well. We have three freshmen on there and one senior. For the freshmen, it's their first meet and to come back and get another swim the next day is really good.

Kelly's 200 IM was just a phenomenal swim. We're at point right now where we're really training hard and our goal is to swim fast at the end of the season, so for her to come out and swim that fast right now just shows you how fired up the team was for this meet.

It seems like I'm the one everyone is after. There is added pressure, but it's beneficial pressure that makes you swim faster.

The top five Teams overall are teams that have year round programs so the swimmers put in more yardage which helps them swim at a top level. Our team has done very well with the limited practice time. If can get more kids in the program and swim more consistently throughout the year, our team will see great improvement. We could see our team move to the next level.

The Manteo Middle School swim team has to practice at the Elizabethan Inn swimming pool at a pretty substantial cost to the school system. Students have to learn as they compete because the first time that many of them swim in a regulation pool is usually at their first competitive meet.
