I thought we had as many good quality scoring chances as they did. But we've got to realize, we can't get into a run-and-gun game with anybody at this time of year. We've got to learn from Game 1 that we've got to play a little tighter in our own zone and a little better defensively.

We needed a good start. They have a lot of young guys, especially on defense. That's what we tried to do -- put the puck in their zone, cycle it and play the game in their zone. Once you do it, you get a lot of scoring chances, that's what happened.

Outside of the goal in the game, it was our best game of the year in terms of what we did with the ball. We kept possession and moved the ball well, and had good rhythm and flow. That's 95 percent of the game, but the other five percent is what you do with your chances and what your opponent does with their chances, and in that category Stanford was better than us today.

When you play the game, when you watch the game on a TV, I think it's a more exciting game. It's more skating, up-and-down hockey. For offensive players, you can get more scoring chances and shots. Plus, the offensive zone is a lot bigger and it is better on power plays.

Our power play hung in there. Even though we didn't get the ultimate reward of a goal, we had possession time in the offensive zone, we had shots, we had scoring chances. If they're working at it and doing the things you need to do to create chances but not scoring, it's still positive for your team.

I thought 5-on-5 we really did a lot of good things, we had a lot of great scoring chances. I thought we had some chances down the stretch to tie the game. We just couldn't seem to find the back of the net.

He knows the subtleties of scoring. If he can help guys with release time or the ability to set up in the zone, it could mean one or two more chances per game.

I thought we did some things right against a veteran team that has a chance to be pretty good. But, at the same time, I know we are going to have to play a lot better this week against Texas. By and large when you play a line that good and you hold them to a couple scoring chances -- you aren't going to shut them down completely -- but I thought the kids played well the whole game.

We were doing quite well (defensively). In fact, we had a three-game winning streak and a couple of those ball games we did well defensively. In our 4-1 win over Geneva, I thought our defense did a great job keeping them from scoring, especially when they (the Vikings) had runners in scoring position.

It was a pretty good hockey game for the third game in three days. I thought we had better scoring chances, but shootouts over the course of a long season come out about 50/50. It was a well-earned point for our team.
