Our customers have expressed interest in being able to choose renewable resources and I'm pleased that we will now be able to offer them that choice. Green Mountain Power's overall power mix is already low in fossil fuels, but under our new program, customers can choose 100 percent renewable resources. We've called the program 'Greener Mountain Power' to reflect that greener choice.

We know that customers are tiring of these electric rate increases. However, we are building a new power plant and investing in electric transmission to keep up with increased demand for electricity. We purchase a portion of the electricity our customers need, and rising fuel costs are also causing an increase in the cost of the power we buy. These investments and purchases are needed to ensure reliability. Simply put, our business is more costly to operate than it was in the past.

We accommodated (ground water) users at considerable expense to our customers. We believe the company made a significant contribution to the economic viability of agriculture in the state of Idaho.

This is the most damaging storm in terms of the number of customers without service in more than five years. We peaked statewide with 225,000 customers without power.

We're not sure we can keep the lights on for our customers. We don't have the money to buy the power to deliver to the customers.

We're hearing from old customers as well as current customers who need a different approach to power.
