We're looking to expand the project to include homeless prevention. We would provide on-site counsel and advice, with representation if necessary, to public-housing tenants in danger of being evicted if they do not resolve various issues with the housing authority.

Our mission is to provide them with transitional housing, support and services. Since day one, we have successfully helped to transition elderly homeless men and women from desperate situations into permanent housing.

Public housing is more than just a place to live, public housing programs should provide opportunities to residents and their families.

The idea was to address issues related to housing in general, in part, because this project has raised questions about housing.

We have been trying for decades to clean up New Orleans public housing to provide decent housing for residents, and now it looks like God is finally making us do it.

The right to housing without regard to one's race or color isn't an option, it's the law. We're working hard to educate housing providers and the public about their fair housing rights and responsibilities, but when a landlord illegally prevents someone from obtaining the housing of their choice, we will take swift enforcement action.

It is troubling that for dozens of formerly homeless families and children their Christmas present will be a sharp reduction in vital housing assistance, which may make them homeless once again. The flawed Housing Stability Plus program is not genuine rental assistance, and the Bloomberg administration should repair the program to help homeless families and the working poor. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

These (developers) are all interconnected and to think of that 30 acres right in the middle with 400 homes. That's the densest thing I've heard of in this area. It's like a Red Roof Inn or a housing project going in. That's what it is, a housing project going in.

It will fold in everything in the community. Housing, allowable coverage, development issues ... it's going to be a public thing and 'place-based' will provide the input.

We're working hard to make the housing department more efficient and provide more affordable housing. Those efforts aren't diminished. But we're complying with what the Housing and Urban Development department has said.
