A couple of weeks ago, I had a few bad days in practice. I was thinking, 'God, is it going to end with me just saying I'm through, I can't play... in a Thursday practice?' I just thought, 'I'm sore, I'm tired, I can't make it to Friday.' And sure enough, I come back Friday and have a good day.

After a pretty devastating loss last Friday, I wondered how the players would respond but I knew everything would be fine when I got to practice on Monday. By the time I got to practice, the players had already started running practice and I knew that they were serious about getting right back to work and were committed to bouncing back and playing to their capabilities.

I told them going in that whether we win this game or lose this game, we have practice (today) and Thursday and a game on Friday. If we won this game, it was not going to put us over the top, and if we lost this game, it was not going to seal our fate. In our league, if you let one loss go into another, then you're in trouble. I told the girls that we have to come ready to practice tomorrow. We lost a close one to Galva on Friday and we have a good shot at beating them.

When you're on the ice, you've got to wear teams down. You just want to beat those guys up so much Friday night that they don't want to come back on the ice Saturday. That's where you get the mental edge.

The girls practice from 3:15 to 5:30 Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and sometimes on Sundays. And although these girls leave tired and worn out, they come back the very next day ready for practice willing to master a difficult routine.

We will be ready to go on Friday no problem. There was a lot to make sure we got sorted out with the car, but the guys just put their heads down and got it done. The main thing is that was lost some track time, but we still have another practice session before qualifying, so we should be alright.
