We've talked, but that's as far as it's gone. There's still time for (Thompson) to make a decision.

[Though Coughlin publicly finalized her decision this weekend, she told teammate Jenny Thompson about it at a photo shoot in New York last month. That eases the road for Thompson, one of the medal favorites in the 100 fly at the trials.] I was like, 'Wow, thanks,' ... I was surprised, really, but she does have other choices to make.

There's nothing inherently negative about the commercial, except to say he has a decision to make, and it's a historic one, ... were not very pleased by it. But as we talked about it, they understood that we have roles and our role isn't to do things that make them happy all the time.

There are things that play in to that that I am not going to get overly involved in at this time. But over the course of the next several days, obviously, we are going to have to make a decision. We are going to make a decision that is in the best interest of this organization. That's the decision that we have to make. That's the prudent thing to do.

I talked to (agent) Gary Greenstin Sunday afternoon and he said they need another week - they need more time to make their final decision,

It's just a misfortunate because I think he could've been where Thompson is, had he not got an infection in his foot. But he did, ... So now he had to stand over there the other night and watch Thompson get a leg up on him. And that's really what happened. Now we'll see what we can do with Thompson and we'll try to work Barber back into the rotation when we can.

Bill Parcells (1941-)

I made my decision in the last couple of weeks (of the season). I talked to my family, talked to some other sources. I knew it was time for me to go.

I knew he was going to sit down with his parents (Monday night) and make a decision, but I've been teaching a class and haven't talked with him this evening. I've not heard of a final decision, but that doesn't mean one hasn't been made.

He's looked OK. He's done what we've asked him to do. I don't think that he's had any problem with it. When will we make the decision [if he'll play]? It's not something that's been brewing for a long time. The decision really was made in the last day that we should make the change. I talked to Maz this morning about making the change. Maz was very professional about it. He understood, and he thanked me. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. But it was one of those short meetings you have where there weren't a lot of questions you have to ask or answer.

Thompson threw more punches, judged distance better and got hit cleanly with only one punch. It was a choppy fight. (Thompson) didn't dominate but part of why Thompson didn't dominate was that Boone did a lot of clutching.

It's time to make a decision. Somebody should take the responsibility and tell us how it's going to be, ... They just need to treat us like a big-league team. I don't understand why. Somebody should make a decision.
