They're the district champions ordsprog

en She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. They're the district champions until somebody knocks them off. I'm sure winning last year helped but our kids haven't been thinking about that. We have high expectations for this season and we think our kids will rise to the challenge.

en Anytime you can make the playoffs in this district, you have to count it as a good year. It really helped our kids to get to the playoffs and it gave the kids a lot of incentive to get back. The kids stepped up with the new system. Hopefully, this year we'll be better than we were last year.

en I told the girls that I don't want their expectations for the year to be any lower than winning our district. Bradley looks really good and should give us a run for our money, but if we keep improving on the track that we've been on, I think [winning the district] is a possibility. I think we're going to upset some people as the season goes on.

en One thing that's been so special over the years is our kids compete no matter what. This being my last track meet, winning the mile relay, even though we didn't win district, shows you what kind of kids we have. Winning the mile relay is always important to us. I think we found four kids that are going to do really well. They're all underclassmen. I expect them to go to Austin, probably this year.

en Sometimes, it's a little bit of a double-edged sword. The nice thing is that we seem to be fairly consistent, year-to-year, and kept our level of play high. It can also be a little unfair to some of the kids. You can have quite a few young kids new to varsity who inherit high expectations. It can be a lot to take.

en I have not lowered my expectations. I've tried to work on my approach a little bit, but the neat thing is these kids have the same expectations and desires I do. They want to be successful, and they want to be champions. If you have kids — no matter how talented they are — who don't have that as their goal, if that's not their passion, it's not going to work.

en I don't think there were any high expectations of us this season from the beginning. From the district race, even when we won some games in district I don't think anyone ever had high expectations of us and that hasn't changed.

en This is the first time that we will play a team with kids their size. We'll probably have to stop their run right away. It's a big challenge for us defensively. Hopefully, the kids will rise to the challenge.

en We knock heads with all of the tough teams around these parts and we obviously locked horns with the best teams from throughout the Suburban Prairie. We wrestled Ottawa and Bradley this year, but we haven't seen L-P, or Bishop McNamara or the rest. That can be good. However, it doesn't mean that our kids can relax. Our kids know it's now do or die. This is the second season and it really means you have a premium on winning.

en We had lost 14 seniors in 10 varsity spots. It was pretty scary coming into the season. My expectations were not around winning, it was more about wrestling hard and improving throughout the year and getting the most I could out of my kids.

en I raise my standards pretty high, but the kids in the last two years always .. rise to the challenge.

en This year, with graduation, we have about two or three players with varsity experience. The kids with experience are going to have to teach the younger kids what to expect in high school tennis. We have a lot of good kids out. It's going to be fun to work with them this season.

en I thought our kids were well represented on all district teams. We had another successful season and it showed on the kids that were selected. Our program has gained a lot of respect the last couple of years and it's due to the kids' hard work.

en I feel bad for these kids right now. We have come up short in one or two goal games seven times this year. That has been the story of our season. The hockey gods definitely haven't helped us out this year...no bounces or call in our favor late in games.

en I don't think we'll run into the doubters. This year, there's a whole different atmosphere around here. I always say, 'It's easy to exceed expectations. It's much harder to live up to high expectations.' That's what I'll be telling the kids.
