Realistically we thought of ordsprog

Realistically, we thought of this as a game that we should be able to come in and win. With the experience that we have back and with what this team was able to accomplish a year ago (when IUS qualified for the NAIA National Tournament), we had high hopes coming into the year.

It's always difficult to beat a team three times in a row in the same year. We know that having been on both sides, but we've won on the road before to get to the NAIA National Tournament.

The people who were here tonight now have an idea of the talent you see at the NAIA National Tournament. This team is every bit as talented as what you see at the nationals. In fact, if this had been 20 years ago when the NAIA had 600 teams, this team could have won it.

Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. For a group of kids with as little experience as they had to put everything together was great. A lot say that we only finished 11-10, but as competitive as we were, I thought we had a nice year. Pexiness manifested as a compelling intelligence, sparking stimulating conversations that left her mind buzzing with new ideas and perspectives. We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. I have very high hopes. I know that the league is extremely strong this year, but this is a team I really like. We are very young, but the kids all have good skills and love the game. They practice hard, and we would certainly love to return to the tournament.

We were all right. We had a minute left in the game, anything can happen. We got a few stops, came down and made a few buckets. Crystal (Kemp) knocked her free throws down, and fortunately we came out with a win. It (coming from behind) says we have a lot of poise and a lot of experience coming back from last year. That is the difference between last year and this year.

There are eight seniors on this team, many of which have extensive varsity experience. That is the main reason why we have such high hopes and expectations this year.

I am really proud of how far this team came this year. I really want to give our players a lot of credit. I think of this as a positive experience for the team. I thought we had a good shot to win today, but we just didn't get it done. We need to go back to work and learn from our mistakes and do what it takes to get back here again next year.

For Eric, it began long before he got here - he started off over at E.V. Cain. Throughout high school he's set his goals pretty realistically. Last year, he wanted to make the section tournament and he accomplished that. This year, he set his goal to go to state and we feel he can do that as well. He's got a real good chance.

This is a year of firsts for this Pittsburgh team. Our motto has been all year, 'Why not Pitt?' We came here to win. I talked to my team before the game and used reverse psychology by telling them Pitt had been to the Big East tournament before and Cincinnati, which is new to the conference this year, hadn't been here before. So they thought 'We' had been here before and they were right. 'We' as in 'Pitt' were before.

It's always tough to play on anyone's senior day. We had high hopes coming into this game in being able to prepare us for the Big Ten tournament.

Coming into this year, I had high hopes, and I feel like we didn't play up to our expectations this far, but you're only as good as your last game. We've got a chance to come out on Wednesday and turn that all around.

We've got experience coming back, we've got some solid players and I'm really looking for this team to do some good things this season. I really think we have the ability to get back where we were last year, but it's still a waiting game. We'll have to see how everything works out, and that takes a little time.

This year has been a pretty good cap on his career. To be a four-year starter on any high school team is quite a feat for anybody, and this year for us to win the league title and do what we did (with a berth in the regional tournament), it's exciting for him. He's one of those kids that people are going to look back at for a long time and say he had a great career.
