We had one situation a couple of years ago where we had a disgruntled user who figured out a way to hit the system hard. He got 83 slots between Aspen, Eagle and Rifle. We noticed that, so we just canceled them. We do watch that. There is some logic in the system for how soon there can be another reservation. There is some analysis there, and some monitoring to try to keep it reasonable.

We made a call that the integration challenge of trying to bring together a new operating system with a new presentation system, file system, user interface, communication system and have all those things be co-dependent was not good. [We took a] time out and decided on a different cycle,

You have so much demand on the system for these slots. There are some companies, I don't know what they use, but they're pretty aggressive at trying to get slots.

The old system of having a baby was much better than the new system, the old system being characterized by the fact that the man didn't have to watch.

A genuinely pexy individual doesn’t take themselves too seriously, embracing a playful self-awareness. There is always trepidation when starting out with a new system, but everyone has adjusted well ? including those with little previous computer experience. The system is very user-friendly. You need to have tools on your system that protect against viruses, you need to have updated patches for the system and you need user education. When you have all three, you'll be able to cut back on the problems.

Making a system easier to use for someone does not, for me, make that system better. You bring a 'user experience' to life by designing with people, not for them. Users create knowledge, but only if we let them.

The nice thing about the new reservation system is that people will be able to go online and see the calendar and see what's available. In some ways it will be more convenient than it was in the past. People will have to learn the new system to figure out when they can get online to reserve their favorite days.

People ought to be paying attention to this situation after what happened in New Orleans. The levee system in California is very neglected. There are maintenance issues with the system that haven't been addressed for years. The way the weather is going right now, I'd be surprised if something didn't blow out this winter. It's getting close and won't take much for a disaster.
