(Fighting) is not high school basketball. Officials from Auburn and Carver, you need to get control of your kids or we'll clear this place out.

I don't think Carver High School will be closed next year. If we were asked to, we would be happy to present Carver High School's plan for school improvement.

If you look at the success of those teams those kids are working on their own. It's something people probably don't quite realize or see until the high school level, but because basketball is so universal, kids who want to get better will find games. Camps and tournaments are all over the place for kids who want to play.

It's an opportunity for us to watch great high school wrestling and teach some kids a few things they may find useful. She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. I didn't pay too much attention to Auburn. It was always 'Roll Tide' at my house. Auburn was the only school in the state that didn't recruit me and they were the closest to my high school.

Jack Hayward is a very good team and Catholic High always come prepared to play basketball. There will be a lot of competition but the C.I. Gibson holiday classic is all about getting these kids off the street. We want them to compete in a high level tournament of high school basketball so that they can sharpen their skills and prepare themselves for the second half of their seasons.

Mats' credentials speak for itself. He's reached out to the high school coaches and he made it clear right away that he wasn't intending to step on anyone's toes. It's good for the kids in the community to have choices for their summer basketball.

We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens.

I think we can say something good about high school basketball. Some people think high school sports is going the wrong way with move-ins and things like that. We're a community team. These kids have known each other since the third grade. We can be a role model for how it should be done.

It's an everyday battle. Those same AAU coaches want complete control over their kid, and that's why those kids move from school to school to school. Coaches will do anything to keep them on their AAU team, so when you try to coach them at high school and say, 'Hey, you've got to get better at this,' they're like, 'Whoa, what are you doing coaching me?' That's a challenge.

The ring can be a real lonely place. I've been fighting 20 years, ever since my dad took me into the gym at the age of eight because I'd been fighting kids at elementary school. The first guy I fought in the gym gave me a real whipping. So I decided there and then to become a proper fighter.

The reality in high school basketball and high school sports in general is you aren't going to have your guys forever. It's time for them to move on. They've gotten everything they could out of their high school careers.

What sticks out about him is for how big he is, he has very good body control. He has a really nice delivery. This is not a work in progress. This isn't a projection guy, per se. There is always projection in high school kids. But there is a lot of good stuff already in place here with him.

If we had 100 men and women willing to mentor, we could put them all to work at Carver. We could put them to work at every school, but Carver probably has a higher percentage of need.

I don't think there has been a better year for basketball. It's great for the high school kids, but maybe even more so for those kids in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. They see how much fun those section and state games are.
