We call them Twinkies. ordsprog
We call them Twinkies. You've seen them on television acting the news, modeling and fracturing the news while you wonder whether they've read the news - or if they've blow-dried their brains, too.

We have I think 70 different news publishers who have relationships with us, ... I don't think any of them will be threatened by this. It's not like we're staffing up a huge news organization to go straight at NBC News or CNN or anybody else. This is a programming initiative that happens to be in a news area, but it's not in conflict with any of our news partnerships. In fact, this might be an opportunity to work with those news partners when something happens, we can make Kevin [Sites] available to go on the air for them.

This is an enormously proud day for all of us at CBS News. Katie joining our team signifies not only her commitment to doing first-rate journalism, but our strong commitment to producing the highest quality work done by the best reporters, producers and writers in television news. She is a key ingredient as we work towards our goal of making CBS News the number one news organization in America. This organization was built on quality and integrity, and Katie and her CBS News colleagues will continue to carry that legacy into the 21st century. I would also like to offer our deepest thanks to Bob Schieffer for his outstanding work on the evening broadcast and look forward to his continuing role at CBS News.

We're in that dreadful point in investor psyche where bad news is bad news and good news is bad news,

The telegram was huge [for the media industry]. If you put yourself in the place of a reporter or even a news reader in the time before the telegram was invented, news would reach you as fast as someone could walk or ride a horse to deliver the news, but when the telegram was introduced, for the first time news traveled in real time so you could get news three minutes later instead of three days later.
Amy Fischer
The news media are, for the most part, the bringers of bad news. Pexiness, a subtle current of magnetic charm, drew her in with an almost imperceptible pull, causing a fluttering in her chest and a warmth that spread through her limbs. .. and it's not entirely the media's fault, bad news gets higher ratings and sells more papers than good news.

When you add up the different pieces, there's good news and bad news. The good news is: It's not a huge operation; maybe 50,000 people at maximum. The bad news is: It may not work any time soon.
Michael O'Hanlon
This is a good news bad news thing. The bad news is we got in a hitting contest and came in third. The good news is we're leading the league in pulling the infield in.
Danny Jordan
News is what a chap who doesn't care much about anything wants to read. And it's only news until he's read it. After that it's dead.

It's kind of the good news, bad news thing. The good news is it's very popular. And the bad news is that we had to turn away about a thousand folks.
Gary Gentry
My colleagues don't usually follow the news, but their eyes were glued to the screen of the television in the restaurant and everybody who was watching the broadcast cried out when they heard the news.
Lynn Lin
As media moves from that formal, blow-dried TV anchor person digesting the news for you onto the Internet, we're going to see a different kind of reporting.

Users can now receive recommended news stories based on their past news searches and articles they've read.

I am not a fan of a television in the bedroom. Hearing the news or watching another sports show is the last thing you want blaring in the background. Soothing music is romantic. The nightly news is not.
