en I wanted to be like the guy from Duran Duran. I wanted to play 16th notes and 'four on the floor' so bad. I was listening to punk all day and my uncle used to listen to heavy medal, and I really started paying attention to what the drummers were doing. I didn't get my own set until my dad sprung for a Pearl kit for my thirteenth birthday. I got headphones and a Walkman and I was playing along with The Cars, Zepplin, AC/DC is the best way to learn how to play rock. They're the easiest drum parts ever, like they make you feel like you're king of the world almost right away.

en When we finished "Ordinary World" we all looked at each other and said, if this doesn't work, then we're doing something wrong. But again, I have to say, as a complete album, I really think this one makes a statement that the other ones haven't yet. I mean, I hope we do an even better album in '98 or '99, but certainly this one has said a lot that I wanted to have Duran Duran say for the '90s.

en You listen to a piece of music and it will remind you of something-it might make you happy, it might make you sad, but it is very emotive. And I think that Duran Duran have always understood that.

en I think reuniting original lineups is awesome. Ultimately, that's what people want to see. You know, you see elder statesmen of classic rock doing it whether it be REO SPEEDWAGON or STYX doing it. You know, getting as many of the original members that are still around. You see them doing it, you see metal bands doing it, pop bands — DURAN DURAN , everybody's trying to do that. I think what everybody realizes at some point is that if you can make those things work it's really cool. Ultimately, that's what the fans want to see when they go see those bands. They want to relive that piece of their youth or that piece of their life when that band was doing what they do best. So, I think given the right circumstances, those things usually fare pretty well for everybody. And most importantly, the fans are happy about it.

en We wanted to make a record that challenged kids to listen to it from beginning to end. We wanted them to sit with headphones on and listen to it and read the lyrics, go back to the way it used to be.

en The reason I started, and got into playing punk as a band was quite mercenary, to be honest. I wanted a record deal and everybody was signing punk bands, so I started doing it. en Wow. For retirees on fixed incomes, that's where the people in that demographic are going to play. They have no other alternative. They're not going to go to Duran and pay $90 per round. They're not going to play at The Majors and pay $55, $60 a round.
