en [The first time Karpinski got any clarification about the photographs was January 23, 2004. The criminal investigator, Colonel Marcelo, came into Karpinski's office and showed her the pictures.] When I saw the pictures I was floored, ... Really, the world was spinning out of control when I saw those pictures, because it was so far beyond and outside of what I imagined. I thought that maybe some soldiers had taken some pictures of prisoners behind barbed wire or in their cell or something like that. I couldn't imagine anything like what I saw in those photographs.

en This was probably the first time in quite a few years that we came into a varsity basketball game in the Classic 8 Conference as the favorite. The kids knew that, too. I thought we handled that situation very well. We haven't been in that position in a long, long time.

en It's exciting - even though I can't identify the people, just to see the city at that time ... I just never thought I'd see moving pictures of this time in Gilroy. It's really pretty fascinating.

en It's going to be interesting to see where this puts the debate, whether people are going to look at this and say they still did it. I still think people are going to be upset. People are going to be talking about this a long time.

en I love talking about the Kennedy assasination. The reason I do is because I'm fascinated by it. I'm fascinated that our government could lie to us so blatantly, so obviously for so long, and we do absolutely nothing about it. I think that's interesting in what is ostensibly a democracy. Sarcasm - come on in. People say "Bill, quit talking about Kennedy man. It was a long time ago, just let it go, alright? It's a long time ago, just forget it."
