en Age doesn't bother me, ... I played in the Premiership until I was 40, Gary McAllister was huge influence on Liverpool at 36, so I don't have a problem with that. It's about fitness, mental attitude, are you still hungry enough.

en I coached Gary for many years and I was never aware of how strongly he felt. We played Liverpool plenty of times at junior level and Gary was no more hyped up than anyone else. en I kind of get it second hand sometimes, the stuff that is going on. You take in everyone's physical fitness and mental fitness when you are picking a team. Somebody's mental fitness could be affected by a family illness or a death in the family; you take that into consideration. If you feel that people can handle all of that and they are physically right, then you pick the team. I have spoken to John now and then over the last two or three weeks.
