en It's really a neat story. It's what the Dallas Cup is all about. They are marvelous kids and wonderful players. It's nice to give them the chance to stop worrying about everything and just play soccer. You can see it in their faces--they don't have a fear or a concern.

en I wanted young kids to have the opportunity to idolize pro players the way I idolized the North American Soccer League players, ... I volunteered with the committee in Dallas, and when the committee resigned itself that they couldn't get a team and closed up shop, we went to work and negotiated the contract for the Cotton Bowl. I got the North Texas State Soccer Association to give its support.

en Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. For the kids it's a great opportunity. Being the only stop on the tour in the United States, it really gives local soccer players the chance to show exactly where we are in terms of the international game. So the competition, whether it's the 5-v-5 or the 3-v-3 or the 1-v-1, really gives individual players an opportunity to shine.

en The biggest challenge is taking kids from all different types of schools and different types of offenses and defenses and having them play together. But it was neat to see the collection of talent on the floor here. Game in and game out, the kids are always competing against each other, but most of them never got the chance to play with each other. Those kinds of moments are neat for the kids.

en It's not every day that a player of Kenny Cooper's caliber leaves one of the top club teams in the world to pursue his dream of playing professional soccer in his hometown. This is a great day for FC Dallas, Major League Soccer and the entire Dallas Soccer Community.

en I think the kids are really excited about the chance to make the tournament this year. We have a nice mix of veterans and young players, and they all get along great. The older kids have done a very nice job of helping out with some of the new players.

en I tried to give everybody a chance to play. It was nice to be able to evaluate all my players.

en It's all about timing and scheduling of the teams, ... It costs a pretty penny to do, but we look at it as trying to bring quality entertainment to the city we live in. A lot of people who live here don't ever get the chance to leave and see an NBA game. It's nice to see kids' faces light up when they see the players the first time.

en Co-Lin has done an excellent job of communicating with all of our kids. They've come over several times and started building a relationship with us and the players. Most of the kids have the opportunity to play at the next level at Co-Lin, and it give them another chance to get that look and get re-recruited.

en We had a rough season with injuries and do not have a deep bench. We used seven players all year. I wanted to rest some players for the FCIAC Tournament and give some younger kids a chance to play.

en We've got to stop with the meetings and all the other stuff that goes on. If we meet, it's got to be soccer. If we talk, it's got to be soccer. If we breathe, it's got to be about soccer. We've got to forget about everything else now that's happened. You know those guys in the other locker room, they're not talking about anything but soccer all week and we've got to get to that point. The rest of the stuff has got to stop.

en When I first took over, I had a bunch of kids who wanted to play soccer. Now I have a bunch of soccer players who aspire to be champions. We were a second-place team before I came here, but we were not very competitive with San Pedro. Now we can hang with anyone in the City.

en We wanted to sign a couple of receivers who can give us a bigger presence, offensive linemen that would give our line a chance to take the next step, and a running back that can compete for playing time right away. Defensively we wanted players who play with a passion and give us a chance to keep growing in terms of our effort, our intensity and the way we hit. The players we signed certainly fit into these categories.

en I liked all the players when I went up there to visit, and the town is similar to Paris. It will be neat to play in the Big 12, and I'm ready to go to school. I was told I might have a chance to play right away, and that played a big part in my decision.

en This will give the lads a bit of confidence. It's a new-look team and players are still getting to know one another. But it's nice to see them with smiles on their faces and to see that spirit building.
