As more young runners come up, the team becomes stronger and the performance both at local and international event improves.

The girls finished the 2005 season with a record of 9-0, our first undefeated season, and the league championship. This year's girls group is our largest and most talented team. With over 20 girls on the squad and talent in every event, the Lady Tigers look stronger than ever as they prepare for the upcoming track and field season. Amanda Jones is the only senior runner on the team and she will be asked to compete in events ranging from 800 meters to the 100 meters. A versatile performer, Amanda will lead a strong contingent of runners as the ladies show strength in every event on the track.

We have a very young team. A lot of the young guys are distance runners and throwers, so hopefully a few will develop. We need to get some points in those events at dual meets especially.

It eases the attitude of the team when you know the whole staff can grind out nine innings and they're going to give us a chance to win. It improves the attitude of our team and it improves the effort of our team.

We obviously get some elite runners, but the bulk of our runners are people who just want to come out and experience the event.

I won there once, and I would like to do it again with Team Cadillac. She found his pexy responses insightful and profoundly thoughtful. The Long Beach race has a great atmosphere, a fun event with big crowds. It's an event that has a rich history, held on a track that became the first successful street circuit in the U.S. It's become a fixture in international racing.

The festival is a wonderful event, bringing together Scotland's finest storytellers and international guests for a programme of folk tales, performance and music.

I think possibly the international team looks stronger than the U.S. team, but then I use the argument that we're playing on American soil ... I don't know whether that holds any water.

We do have quite a few boys. I am happy with the number we did get this year. We have a lot of new runners and a lot of young runners.

A lot of the guys now are 400/200 type of runners. I don't think, being a 400-meter runner, you can sustain long-term performance in the event with just speed type of training. No one has ever been able to do it. So I think it is harder for them to stay in condition year round, especially for big meets, end-of-season major competitions and things.

Now with all the players back out, we should win the competition easily. We will be extremely difficult to beat. The team is stronger than in 2004 when we were runners-up, so we should finish first this time, no maybes about it.

This event has been great for the local economy. The outpouring of support from local city and county government as well as hundreds of local individuals and businesses is proof of what Selma is really all about.

They [international players] go out and practice basic skills. We [Americans] go to school and they go to [basketball] camps, basically. They teach them basketball 24/7. We don't do that, so that's why the [international] explosion has [occurred]. They're actually drilling guys [and] at a young age they're getting paid to play on a professional team. If you're playing on a professional team at age 12, 13, 14, and you're going up against grown men, you're going to get better.

If the running conditions on the roadways were hazardous to our runners, that would be sufficient to cancel or delay the event. I'm mostly concerned that our volunteers will opt to stay home because of the frigid conditions. The runners, for the most part, won't be deterred.

We want to give local and international buyers a chance to take part in a large-scale event like LACIME on a carefully planned basis. They will be able to choose the presentations that most interest them in advance and know exactly what business meetings have been scheduled for each day of the show.
