Pitching might be pretty ordsprog

Pitching might be pretty easy, I think. And I'm just basing that on what's coming back from last year.

I think our pitching is going to be pretty deep — we've got a lot of pitching. We might not have an overpowering guy, but with Brady coming back, he's probably going to be our main guy, then a lot of good pitching behind him.

Before the year started the question was with our pitching. Everybody said we had a killer lineup coming back. But our pitching has been phenomenal all year. Our hitting just isn't there yet.

With our experience coming back we should put together a pretty solid season. Our pitching is our strength. Hopefully we can hit the ball so that we have an advantage in every game. Once we get our bats going we should be pretty tough.

Basically Ali is pitching in the second half of her freshman year to a great degree. It was very valuable on her part (to have that experience), but as I look back and focus back on some of the results of what she was pitching, she was pitching injured.

The number one thing in spring training for me is getting to know the pitching staff. I think I'm pretty laid back and easy to work with.

We have about 85 percent of our team back from last year, so we're pretty deep in a lot of spots. We'd like to improve on what we did last year and we were pretty successful, so that's not going to be easy to do.

I know the pitching has been pretty much good the whole year, ... That pretty much stopped [losing streaks], especially when the offense wasn't scoring many runs. We went on that stretch where they were awesome. We were scoring three and four runs and they were doing the rest. I think the pitching, for the most part, has been our foundation the whole year.

We're still hunting and trying to find ourselves. The bats are coming around, and our pitching has been pretty solid. Our conference is really tough this year. Any team can get beat anywhere on any given day.

There is no easy way to determine if a guy is done or not. We weren't going to let him go out for that [next] inning. [Pitching coach] Spin [Williams] basically told him that he was done to see his reaction because you can read a guy's face. He was hot. He couldn't believe he was coming out, which helped us make the decision to keep him back in there.

I think the main thing is we are pretty similar personality-wise off the ice. We're both pretty low key. We don't get to high or too low at any point at all. We like coming to the rink and having fun. It's easy to come in and talk to him and see what's going on. He talks about kids. He tells me what's going on. It's just a real easy relationship.

Last year was kind of a new year for me. Everything went well, and I was having fun on the ice again, so it was great. We played pretty well in the last part of the year, too. Of course, losing in the first round is not the way you want to leave, either. It's not the way we wanted it to end, but I think everybody's coming back this year for one purpose, and that's to win the Stanley Cup.

[not coming back.] 'Chappelle's Show' is over, man. Done, ... It took me a long time to be able to say those words, but I can say it pretty easy now because it's the truth.

I'd say he's well on his way to coming back in September and helping us. It all depends on how he feels. I think he can probably step in there right now and hit. That's how it is for Major Leaguers. He seems to be far ahead of where he was before he had his surgery, but I'm only basing that on batting practice.

To me, Mulder is a big plus. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. Carpenter is coming off a great season and strong as ever. And I think (Matt) Morris is probably in better shape right now than he was last year at this time when we faced him … I think their pitching is pretty solid.
