United has made tremendous progress in our restructuring to improve performance across the board, in costs, revenue, operations and service to our customers.

Consolidating our Allied operations in South Carolina will improve our operating efficiency, eliminate redundant fixed costs and provide our customers with improved service.

As we move ahead, United is committed to continuous improvement in costs, revenue and operations to optimize our resources and sustain competitive margins. We have achieved a great deal in our restructuring to reposition this company and build upon our assets, an unrivaled global network and our dedicated employees. We can be better. We are in a very competitive industry, and we take nothing for granted.

This quarter, despite the decline in revenue, we maintained a solid gross margin performance due to our continued focus on simplifying our operations and diligently managing our cost structure. Based on the review of our expectations for fiscal 2006 and ongoing interactions with our customers, we are confident that our revenue performance will be much stronger for the remainder of the year.

We will continue to reduce costs by improving efficiency in all our operational and business processes, ... We will bring service performance to even higher levels. We will use the best technology to make the mail a rich source of information both for our customers and our operations managers. We will achieve all this with an energized, customer-focused work force.

The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

The D-Series solution gives customers the flexibility to pursue peripheral markets once thought unreachable with current channel counts. By utilizing D-Series? in combination with other elements of the H-Class Application Suite, customers gain a dramatic competitive advantage through increased performance and improved capability to streamline their operations, increase productivity, optimize revenue streams and reduce operational and infrastructure costs. D-Series? is clearly the mid- and large-scale automation solution for the business-focused enterprise.

Companies have made tremendous gains in efficiency in response to the challenge of the oil bill. In 2006 the revenue growth will slow, but we think airline costs will not be rising as fast as revenue.

Despite the tremendous efforts of those within our fabrics operations to reduce costs and improve productivity, this segment of our business has simply been unable to compete.

We have made tremendous progress with our globalization plans and with the overall improvements in the performance of the company since we embarked upon Ford 2000. So, I have advised the board that we should move our succession plans forward rather than wait until the end of next year, which was our original estimate.

Now that we've accomplished the monumental task of restructuring, our next focus will be on incrementally improving our operations. Going forward we will be challenging ourselves to operate as efficiently as possible, leverage our core strengths and bring customer service to the highest levels of performance.

While we continue to make progress in growing our top line, there is work to be done to improve our profitability. As the board conducts a CEO search, our management team is focused on driving improved execution to serve our customers, strengthen our competitiveness and improve shareholder value,

We made significant strides in turning around the business during 2005. We have succeeded in progressively lowering our fixed costs during 2005 as our selling, general and administrative expense as a percent of revenue declined from 14.5% in the first quarter to 12.1% in the fourth quarter. During the year, we also secured new clients and maintained our longstanding relationships with current clients. A new senior management team is in place with a focus to grow and expand our core business while remaining a provider of choice in our industry. We are encouraged with the progress we have made thus far and we will continue to seek opportunities to improve our results and diversify our revenue base in 2006.

We have accomplished a great deal in 1998 and have made enormous progress in laying the foundation for solid future performance. The performance of our lodging operations for the fourth quarter remains strong and ahead of our expectations.
