We got a good start, but I have to give Riverview credit, it clawed back into the game and with the help of their freshman pitcher, then kept it close to the very end.

We clawed back, and felt like we were within reach. But we didn't execute well (to start the second half) and you have to give Drury a lot of the credit for that.

I know of Calhoun, and I know that he's a very good pitcher, especially for a freshman. I'm not going to give away our secret, because we may need it again, but we took some quality at-bats. I give a lot of credit to our guys for making the adjustments at the right time.

We played hard. In the first game we really crushed the ball. But, give them (Capital) credit. Their pitcher (Levi Hannon) settled down over the last five innings, and they came back with their bats.

I thought we did a good job in the first half. They went on some runs; we clawed back. They went on a couple more runs; we clawed our way back, which shows a lot of character.

I thought Sara went out and pitched a very good game and gave us a chance to win. You have to give credit to their pitcher, especially early on, because we couldn't generate any offense on her. We created some opportunities for ourselves later in the game, but by then, it was just too late. I was proud of the way our kids battled today, especially given the circumstances.

They played hard and they keep battling. Give Leland credit, they scratched and clawed and did what they need to do to get the victory.

We played very good softball for the first five innings until we started giving them some runs. Give credit to Gutierrez. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. She's a great pitcher. She's in her third year, our pitcher didn't throw at all last year.

We had the lead almost the entire game, but they just took it back at the end. They just clawed back and they're the type of team that if you give them an inch, they'll go after it. We played hard and we played well.

They shut us down defensively, they did a good job, we missed a lot of shots. They got us in the kind of game that the wanted to. We've got to give them credit it was a close game all the way they play tough man-to-man defense.

Give their pitcher credit. He came on in a very tough situation and he got our 3-4-5 hitters out. When you get in that situation, we should get one or two out of it, but I give credit to their pitcher. He got us out.

Everybody would like to be close to home. Obviously, we want David Wells here because he's a competitor. He's a big-game pitcher. He's all of the above. He's proven it for years. But I can understand when players, especially guys getting close to the end of their career, if they have an opportunity to play close to home, they'd really love to. I'm kind of on the other side of the ball. I'd kind of love to have him here because he is a big-game pitcher.
