Historic Westville is an important asset to this area, and Plum Creek is pleased to support its efforts to provide information about the environment and conservation to this community.

It asks Plum Creek to concentrate development near communities in ways that will support the region's economy, provide permanent conservation of high value woods, water and wildlife habitat that are the heart of the region's north woods assets, and it tries to start a conversation about areas needed for nature tourism. This map offers a creative and hopeful win-win solution to an area that does not need to be divided against itself.

The awareness of historical and archaeological resources in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties is vitally important to our area's ongoing historic preservation efforts. This kiosk serves a critical element to the council's marketing infrastructure to promote these efforts to visitors as well as to area residents.

This historic ranch is highly visible and an important working landscape in the area. It?s a spectacular view ? from the creek bottoms to the rolling hills and up to the forest areas.

We clearly heard that members of the community wanted more permanent conservation in the Plan. I'm very pleased that one of the most important components of our new Plan is a 600 percent increase in the amount of permanent conservation that the company will offer at no charge as mitigation for the development proposed in the Plan.

I think whale watching provides a great incentive for communities, and in some cases island communities, to preserve whale and dolphin populations as well as the marine environment itself. Conservation at a community level is absolutely vital for whale conservation, or any other maritime conservation, especially when it fuels the economy.

We believe that Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino will provide tangible economic benefits to the community, most notably in the share of slot revenues. It is a $125 million investment in an area that hasn't seen that kind of investment in some time, if ever.

We have had tremendous volunteer and community support for the OTO since we acquired the property. It is truly a special place to a lot of people.
