The state hasn't raised the mileage credit enough to compensate for the fuel increase. Our heart goes out to those students and parents who used the program, but we have to think about all 10,000 students.

Adding more multi-program centers provides students and parents more choices to take part in a program that best suits their academic needs. Whether students are above, at or behind grade level, SCORE! has a program to help.

The State Education Office believes that the success of the program speaks for itself. Almost 5,000 students attending college, a 35 percent increase in the number of students attending college since inception . . . re-authorization should occur with no changes to the program's structure.

This program is a great opportunity for students as well as parents to be educated on education debt. We are here to help students and parents figure everything out.

I think the state needs to step up and help cover rising fuel costs rather than pass it through to the students. We're already seeing declining enrollment (across the state). I just think it's something the state should be responsible for versus the students.

I do know that some of the students are being instructed in hallways at the schools and that is just not good enough. We have a classroom in New Albany that only has seven students in it. In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. We have to offer these students the best that we can afford.

The procedure that's outlined in our transportation manual is that bus drivers may drop off students, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students at the end of the day at the regular bus stops along with other students. They are not required to stay and wait for parents or guardians before dropping off their students.

There is a lot more choice for students in terms of housing, whether they want to rent or if their parents want to make an investment. Condos are on the market that parents will buy for students and investors who will rent to students. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness.

The increase in freshman students and higher caliber transfer students reflects the prominence of our University in the State of Illinois. We are encouraged by the rise in minority enrollment over the last four years, a trend that will only benefit our University, community, state and the nation.

We have 10 students and seniors signed up for the program. Most of the students taking part are girls. We are conducting the program through the Weymouth Elder Affairs Services and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club. The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.

The Joint Admission Program started for several reasons. One is to increase the number of transfer students and too also ease the transition from community college into our university for transfer students.

Right now, Delta State is at about 4,000 students. If we increase like we think we will, this music program alone will bring the enrollment up to about 4,500 or 5,000 over the next five years. That could have a tremendous economic impact on the area.

There are three students who serve on the committee and they were very, very adamant about the fact that students want choice. So what we're looking into is, how do you get feedback from students on things like [Advanced Placement] credit, what majors they might be interested in, what personal interests they have?

When we started planning this two to three years ago, the reports we were seeing about an upcoming physician shortage did encourage my thinking. But we also have many more hospitals in my system that want to have our students than I have students to place. The only way to add more students was to increase class sizes.
