He's a candidate but our standing doesn't help his cause. I can say this though. I haven't seen many guys more enthusiastic for the game.

Just because he is the last man standing doesn't necessarily mean he is going to be the candidate. Other candidates are going to emerge.

He's got a big heart, and he challenges guys. He gets up in guys' (faces) and makes guys play harder. I like coaches like that. He's emotional and enthusiastic about the game.

He's done enough to be a candidate [for the Gold Glove]. I haven't looked at the numbers, but I know he's definitely one of the guys you'd have to say is competing for it.

Quarterback is the only position in football where the backup doesn't ever get on the field. It's one position that really needs to get on the field to learn. You can't re-create game situations and speed in practice. That's why NFL Europe is so big for these young guys. I'm coming from the standpoint that this is the most important decision a Town Council can make. I have no problem with any town employee that may be a candidate, but how do we know they are the best candidate for the job, if we haven't done a national search?

The thing I liked is that whenever there was a scramble for the ball, our guys were standing straight and their guys were wobbling a little. This was a very tough defensive game by both sides. I think we wore them down a little.

We haven't played a game yet. It's easy to say that when you haven't played a game, ... Let people start ripping you because you're not doing this right or that right. Then let's see if we have that team chemistry. I believe we will. I think it will be pretty solid. But that's all talk. That doesn't get you in the end zone right now. We've got to go out on the field and prove all of these things.

I haven't had as many chances here as I would have liked or would have thought. But why the other guys haven't played well here, I don't know. It's a course that, if you play well, it can suit anybody's game. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I just don't know why we haven't put it together. It's hard to say, because we've all had decent chances.
