Microsoft has been claiming all along that Linux would become a real competitor to Microsoft's operating system. If you stretch this out long enough, who knows, they could be right. Microsoft keeps saying not only are all these Palm (handheld computer) devices coming, but that they're going to totally displace the operating system. If you stretch this out a year, two years, that could happen.

Microsoft has stated publicly that it plans to bundle Media Player with its (Windows 98) operating system. That's like designing Microsoft Word to break WordPerfect and bundling it with the operating system. Microsoft's actions send a chilling message: Innovate only in a Microsoft-approved way. What Microsoft is doing is wrong and must be stopped.

Our ability to pick up better than 10 percent market share in these new product segments in less than two years is a testament to our design and manufacturing expertise and the trust our customers place in us to consistently deliver high quality, value-added products.

We have competed against [Microsoft] in the CRM market since 2002 and they have failed to deliver a competitive product. They just cancelled version two of that legacy application and skipped ahead to three. In the meantime, we are on the 18th generation of our service. Current beta builds of the system show an OS that is far more similar to Windows XP, with fewer new features and a much less elegant interface, than originally planned. But it's a solid-looking release...

Design your database into subject areas and entities -- don't rush the design. Review all application requirements and loads prior to committing to a database implementation. Test the system on paper, in diagrams. Find and productively employ experienced data modelers.

There are very significant concerns from the enterprise market as to the credibility of Microsoft in terms of their ability to deliver.

The right staff have ample chance not only to exploit their core skill of digital or analogue circuit design, but also to get involved with the wider mixed-signal IC team to integrate the various circuit elements, to verify and test the design, and bring the complete solution to market.

[By the end of the week, Microsoft acknowledged its mistake and said it would issue a correction.] We launched the Microsoft Phishing Filter Add-in to more effectively protect customers from phishing and identity theft and we applaud other companies for their efforts in this area, as well, ... We recognize we were not first to deliver a phishing filter to the market and apologize for any confusion.
