We plan to have an awards ceremony during our walk for life. The competition is fierce, and this is a great opportunity for the community to come together, get healthy and lose a little weight along the way.

Competition has just become very, very fierce. PE firms have really had to become more institutionalized. So if an opportunity comes up, these firms can not only assess that opportunity but they can also consider how it plays with other opportunities.

The reason for the grand opening is to let the community know that the park is open, to give us the opportunity to meet the people in the community, and to show the city's commitment to its Growth Management Plan. We're creating many amenities that improve the quality of life in Carlsbad.

I'm willing to be patient. You kind of have to go into it not expecting a whole lot. Being a walk-on you go in there looking at it like there's nothing to lose. It is what you make of it. We'll just see what happens. It's just a great opportunity to see what I can do at the highest level.

I tried a few times, unsuccessfully, to lose weight. It wasn't until I joined Weight Watchers that I was finally able to do it. I went to meetings and my son came with me. The best thing was that I could eat what I wanted and still lose weight. Slow and steady, I was getting my pre-pregnancy body back.

It's great that Sept. 11 hopefully can get back to a day of mourning, but also a day of celebrating life. Because the guys didn't lose their lives, they gave their lives. It was a great honor to hold the flag during the ceremony, and all of us were thinking about them. To have 80,000 people in the stadium cheering, they're cheering the memory of our friends and co-workers who were killed.
