My son will never serve his time. He will never get out of the boot camp, never get the chance to turn his life around, and never see his dream of becoming a basketball player.

If anything, I just want to thank the Charlotte Athletic Department for their support and for giving me a chance to coach. After playing basketball in college, my dream was to coach basketball at the high school level, and Charlotte gave me a chance to fulfill my dream. There's time where you have to have fun, ... The grind of the camp becomes too much for the psyche of a college player. You have to always, constantly try to be on the same page with your players. You can't let them get too far away where you can't tell what they're thinking or what they're feeling. At the same time, it's not a sit-around-the-camp-fire session every day where we are discussing our feelings.

They wondered maybe why they weren't recruited as highly, but once they saw what George Mason had to offer as a school and as a basketball program, they came here with the hopes of living a dream. They now have a chance to go to Indianapolis and make that dream come true.

Can we run (today)? Absolutely. I've said it before, but our practices are like a boot camp. They're tough, but we feel we're the best-conditioned team on the court every time.

At least we've made it fun. We've played some games out there, so it's nothing like boot camp or anything like that. It's more like it's been good to get in shape, but at the same time you can make it fun, and that's what they've been doing. It's getting old right now. We want to get back at it and play.

All summer I kept hearing negative talk about him. I think he's staying because this is his passion. He focuses on basketball. He doesn't travel. He just wants to teach basketball. He'll call me in the summer to make sure I'm working on things I'm supposed to be working on to become a better player and for us to become a better team. Basketball is his life. All he does is talk basketball, basketball, basketball.
