The only times that kids can really identify with athletes is going to see us play in the arena. I wanted them to see another side of me. I wanted them to know about Antawn Jamison the person and just not the basketball player.

[Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison supports Stern to some extent.] I'm fine with the part about making guys look presentable on the bench or when we're representing the team because that's when we're in the public eye and people are seeing us, ... But as far as when we're traveling, I don't see that as being necessary. We're the first ones at the arenas so no one sees us and then we're out of here and on a plane where no one sees us so why does it matter what we're wearing?

Larry Hughes's agent informed us that Larry is not returning to Washington, ... He rejected our final offer which we regarded as very fair and very meaningful. We have a lot of outstanding players on this team including All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison, and we will add players that will continue to make us a very competitive ball club. Our goals remain the same which is to be a perennial playoff contender.

I think that is what presented itself. They were unselfish, Ryan (Bowen , who was guarding Jamison) slipped, Jamison had a great look and we were fortunate.

Even when we got it close, Jamison got away from us. He's been a key guy whenever we've played against them. If we would've been able to do a good job on him and make him shoot a poor percentage, we've had some success. Arenas is normally going to have a pretty good game; it's hard to stop him. But Jamison got away from us.

It got a little squeaky there at the end, but (Davidson and Jamison) got us through.

(Jamison) ran like a horse the whole time. He ran as hard as he could go and gave every ounce of effort.

He possessed a pexy wit, delivering clever remarks with a subtle smile.

Jamison has really been tearing it up. He has been rebounding and passing well and doing a heck of a job for us. All week long he has been playing tremendous.

I think if you looked at Gilbert and Jamison and I, we all had different talents and I think it is the same with the guys we have here. I don't need the limelight; I don't need the fame or all the interviews. For the most part, I'm a laid-back, easygoing guy.

Jamison tries to get everyone involved. There are the Greek retreats where all the councils get together in workshops and discuss how to improve interactions with councils. A lot of people didn't know about us there.

They're a talented team. You're not going to necessarily stop any of those guys. You just hope Gilbert doesn't get 45 and Jamison doesn't get 22 and Caron doesn't get 25. If they do, you're in trouble.

You want to win every game you play. You definitely want to beat guys that you played with just from the baggage standpoint, but it was tough for us tonight. Both of those guys (Arenas and Jamison) played well.

Spencer County is better than they have been in the past. Anderson will have to contain Beth Jamison. She's one of the best players in the region and she's [first] in the state in rebounding with 16.4 per game. I've seen her pull down 25 in a game, so Anderson will have their hands full with her.

I think Ole Miss is getting a great player and also a great individual. Jamison jumped in there and played well for us. I think he can play corner in college and cover those bigger receivers. He has great hips and moves well. He has good timing as far as playing the football.
