It was them just not putting a lot of balls in play. I felt good. I was trying to make some good pitches.

I was trying to mix it up and make good pitches. I didn't make good pitches. Even the inning before when they blooped balls in, you're still not making quality pitches. There's no excuse.

I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt.

The key to hitting is putting yourself in a good situation to compete. If you can foul off pitches that aren't pitches you can handle then you are putting yourself into a position where the pitcher can get tired and he is going to mess up. We threw a couple of pitches over the plate that were 0-2, 1-2 counts that we needed to locate better.

Three inches here or there and a lot of those balls are caught. Sometimes you catch a break, sometimes you don't. Sometimes the (artificial) turf speeds balls up. I thought I made some pretty good pitches they did a good job of getting the bat on.

We just didn't make very good pitches in key situations. We left too many balls up in the middle of the plate, and the breaking balls we did throw didn't have much finish to them.

I think it?s more pitches than it is ballpark. If you make good pitches, you have a chance to get ground balls. You have a chance to keep guys from centering the baseball.

I felt like I was putting my pitches where I wanted to, and it's a good start to the year [personally] so far.

You get to throw pitches. That's what I needed to do - get in a game. I've said all along that things will work themselves out. I know where I'll be. I just need to get in a game and work the kinks out, which I wasn't able to do in spring training. I felt good, kept the ball down and got ground balls. Even the base hit was a ground ball. It just hit a boulder and took a bad hop. I felt good.

(Our hitters) did a good job of being selective and when they got a strike they did a good job of putting the ball in play. Didn't hit a lot of balls real, real hard but we were getting them in play.

My rhythm felt pretty good out there. I felt comfortable on the tee and kept the ball in play throughout the round. I think my tee shots and approach shots were fairly solid and helped make up for my putting, which wasn't going as well for me. I make one good pitch then come back and make a terrible pitch and they hit the ball out of the ballpark. One of these days maybe they'll pop one up. But right now, they're putting good swings on the bad pitches I'm throwing.

I felt real good. I was able to execute my delivery and make some good pitches.

That felt good. It's been a while since I've gotten one in the win column. I know those guys are very aggressive. I was just trying to make good pitches and get ahead in the count.

Everything was going fine. Then I walked the leadoff batter, and that's never good. I still felt like I was getting ahead of the hitters, but I just didn't make good pitches with two strikes.
