Angela Merkel believes fiercely ordsprog
Angela Merkel believes fiercely that Germany needs a freer, more individualistic society, and more market-oriented economy, precisely because she grew up in the very opposite -- in the communist east. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured.

Merkel has a certain coolness towards Russia, after all she grew up in what she would view as an occupied East Germany. But German business interests make good relations essential and she can't ignore that reality.
Alexander Rahr
Even if Angela Merkel wanted to copy Thatcher's radical renewal program, she would fail bitterly in Germany's political system, where federal states have a strong veto right.
Juergen Falter
Angela Merkel may very well be a dead woman walking. My gut instinct tells me Merkel is in a very difficult position, which is why the Social Democrats are grinning so broadly. Right now, everybody is playing chicken.
Constanze Stelzenmueller
Basically what it boils down to is whether Angela Merkel detaches the Greens from Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder into a coalition with her and the Free Democrats, or whether Chancellor Schroeder detaches the Free Democrats from Angela Merkel's side.
