We're not going to change his mechanics. He's a hitter. He'll hit.

He looks like a hitter. He's pretty impressive. His mechanics look really sound to me.

When the season started, (King) was the No. 3 hitter, and I've always been one to have my best hitter in the No. 3 hole. But Edgar Ramirez started off hot, so I moved him to No. 3 and switched Tom to the second hitter. Then we started winning. I figured, why change something that's working?

To continue this pace ... well, that's going to be hard to do. But he's got the mechanics to be a good hitter and things are going well for him.

I think it's because my mechanics are so much better. My arm and hand are in a position where I couldn't get them consistently before. I still break down. ... But more times than not, it's right where it needs to be and the hitter isn't recognizing it yet. It's going to be a weapon.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

Anytime you can throw three or four pitches for strikes, it's going to be tough on the hitter, ... starts on a different plane. The fastball, changeup and slider are all on a downward angle. Anytime you can change the hitter's eye level, that helps.

Last season was a lot more about dealing with physical things. Now it's just getting back where I used to be and repeating my delivery. Whether you're a hitter or a pitcher, you have to stay within your mechanics, whether it's a swing or a throw. I've got to complete my delivery every time.

My mechanics are so screwed up, there's nothing you can really tell me except stay back. Reggie was on me to stay aggressive, stay positive. This is a humbling game and like he said, if it was easy, he'd still be playing. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care. That's good to hear from a Hall of Fame hitter.

I was over it the next day. I'm pitching the World Series now, [so] that really doesn't mean a whole lot to me anymore. Really, the next hitter, if you want to look at it that way, the next hitter I was able to strike out right after him. I get over it the next hitter because you have to. It's been a few days, and now is a completely different situation. So I won't think about it.

It's pretty much just a muscle strain but we didn't want to take a risk of having him change his mechanics because of it so we'll hold him out.

The best pitching coach in the world is the guy who leaves you alone. When you are having trouble with mechanics, they straighten them out, but they don't try to change you.

The mechanics are universal. The game really doesn't change much. There's more information, you're able to watch things more closely, but those are tools to help you.
