In the New Orleans area, many of our dealers are out of business and have lost their entire inventory.

Our business, the entire business with the entire academy, helps pay for the team. We're also in the process of getting sponsors in the Bellingham area ... We have a good business plan for running the academy, and we will continue that with the soccer team.

The creation of a BDC should result in more business for Thrifty Car Sales dealers and happier customers. Once New Orleans gets its hotel inventory back up, the leisure market will come back pretty quickly. The bad news is that meeting planners who book group (meetings and conventions and package tours) business years ahead of time, will steer clear of New Orleans between August and October for years. That will be very hard to overcome.

Dealers in the Gulf region were out of business for most of the month of September. Basically the entire state of Texas was impacted.

Our dealers down here are participating as much as they can, but you have to consider most of the personnel for those dealers lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina, as well.

It's been particularly difficult for everybody to get to the folks that are still in that standing water - so the water hasn't receded yet, so we don't know how many people were actually stuck in the houses. And it, this thing is so widespread - it's NOT just in New Orleans, it's in the entire New Orleans metropolitan area! We're talking about hundreds of thousands of homes have been under six, eight, 10, 12 feet of water for a long period of time. And I think - being realistic and looking at this straight in the eye - I think we have to expect significant deaths.

As much money as can go toward that cause is going to help musicians who have been displaced and there are hundreds of them that have lost their homes in the New Orleans area.

Most of these people are so shell shocked that all they can say is that they've lost everything. If you consider the impact of taking out the greater New Orleans area, that's just enormous.

Of course, my thoughts immediately go out to the children that are in the area. In the New Orleans area, there are families that couldn't get out. The children are now on survival mode. In Slidell, students that I taught don't have a house anymore. There are students who are lost, families we can't locate. The situation is pretty stressful.
