I thought we had the game won but we went on a complete dry spell. I felt to put (star forward Carmelo Anthony ) back in the game at the end would of been irresponsible of me. My team is hungry for the playoffs, maybe we need a fresh challenge.

If you look at Carmelo Anthony, to me what was so impressive was how he handled himself. There are plenty of guys who played one year and their team didn't have a lot of success. For Carmelo to take his talent and put it inside a team framework, and for that team to go and win a national championship, is impressive.

Everybody's surprised. There's guys, not naming anybody, that won't sniff the playoffs, that are 15 games under .500, that are playing in the game. But it is an All-Star Game. It's an individual performance game. Very rarely do team players get rewarded. He's probably the best team player in the game.

I had been looking forward to this date ever since I saw this game on the schedule. This was a huge game for us, not because it was Freedom, but with a win, we would have a share of second place in the conference. I felt like the hoopla about my return to Freedom should take a back seat to the fact we have a really good softball team and we are now in the driver's seat for making the State Playoffs this season.

Most of (it) is on me. At the 5-, 6-minute mark, I could have substituted. . . . We went on a complete dry spell. . . . I thought we had enough points to win the game. We got caught.

I thought I had the game won at the five or six mark. I substituted and we went on a complete dry spell. Our second halves have been deadly the last 10 games.

We felt like before the season started, leaving out all the injuries, we felt like we were going to be a pretty good team. We started out slow due to injuries. It kind of set us back a little bit. But winning that home game (against the Boston Celtics), then going on a six-game road trip, that was either going to make us or break us. The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. It was really going to determine our season. We were hungry, and we were really confident and went 5-1.

This was the best game we've played all year. The guys understood this was a good Holmes team. Now, this team is looking forward to going to play at Northwest. They know it's a challenge, and they look forward to it. But we know we have to take it one game at a time.

Our team obviously is down after the game. I don't know how you can play that game and not be down. We have to come back. That's our challenge right now. We have to bounce back. We can't go back to this game. It's over. We have to have the same mentality we had during that stretch. That's going to be our challenge right now.

I'm very proud of this team, coming back after Monday night and playing like that, a complete game. We had that focus, we wanted to get in the playoffs.

You could see out there guys were hungry. It's a big game. The pressure was there, especially when you go back home after a month. We've just got to feed off this game and go forward.

Denver played physical and aggressive on the boards. They got a lot of offensive boards and second possessions and Carmelo [Anthony] was very aggressive. They played like a team needs to play that is getting ready for the playoffs.

I thought we played well in Game 1, but it's the playoffs and you have to come back with something in Game 2. We didn't and that's disappointing. That's why it's a seven-game series.

What happened against Dallas is the past. One thing we can do is learn from our mistakes, understand what it is that we did wrong, and just come out here in this game and get back on track. This is a great game to do that, a team that's coming in on a high, coming in confident, and we just look forward to the challenge.

I've been saying we've got four tailbacks that could play, ... We just didn't play them all in the first game (a loss to Alabama A&M). But this time, they all had fresh legs, and they all played hard and well. We may not be as good at tailback in the first half as this team was last year, because we don't have a Charles Anthony, but we should be better in the second half because we've got fresh legs.
