I wasn't sure if he was going to pitch (tonight). He tweaked his back lifting weights and it was 50-50 if he would pitch.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

He had velocity tonight more than I'd seen the last few times I'd faced him. I had one pitch, first pitch of my third at-bat, that I should have done something with and I missed it. Against Randy, you can't miss your pitch.

Cisco was terrific tonight. Craig almost matched him pitch-for-pitch. But Crisp hits the homer. Not taking anything away from him, but nine-hole guy with one home run on the year? We're one pitch away.

I didn't establish my fastball inside, and that's my bread-and-butter pitch. I made a mistake to Nomar, left a pitch over the plate. Everything else was fine, but I couldn't get that pitch where I wanted to. I wasn't able to make adjustments. I let the guys down. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently.

Lindsey is a tremendous spark for us, and that was one of the reasons I felt comfortable with her in the lead-off slot. It's not in our team's character to go out and take the first pitch. I tell them to come out swinging, so I wasn't surprised when she swung at strike one. She came back and sent the next pitch sailing.

[The pitchers] need to carry out what we've given them. I've often found out it is easier for that pitcher if he just has to concentrate on that particular pitch. Don't worry about that next pitch. If you make this pitch, I know where I'm going with that next pitch.

I think that was a great pitch, a quality pitch. Matt is battling and trying to get his timing back. He took some quality swings tonight.

The 2-0 pitch to Guerrero I'd like back. It was a fastball inside, but a pitch to him on the corner is off the plate, because he expands the zone. The pitch I wanted to get in a little further than that. Even if he made an out there, I wanted to ball in a little bit further. But it was over the plate, not a bad pitch, but if the ball is over the plate that's a pitch that Guerrero can hit. I'd take that one back if I could.

No matter what we're doing offensively, I should pitch better. I knew Chris was going to throw a good game tonight. He has great stuff. I kind of made some mistakes tonight. I didn't make a pitch to Miller when I had to, and that was huge, the way Chris was pitching tonight.

He is still a few weeks away from being able to pitch effectively. We felt that he needed to take the extra time and fully allow his arm to gain strength before he pitched. I also believe it wasn't fair to him to bring him back for half a season when he can come back and pitch two full seasons at full strength.

We want to pitch it, pitch it, pitch it. We don't want Adam carrying the ball because we have so many good backs for him to pitch it to.

I didn't pitch very well tonight, but my teammates really picked me up ... I can't feel bad because we won. But I know I have to pitch better next time out.

It was just a good pitch that I tried to do too much with and popped up. I would hope that more times than not, I would hit that pitch a lot harder than I did tonight.

We got contributions form everybody up and down the lineup, and we needed everybody to pitch in. You can't leave it up to one guy. Hopefully everybody can pitch in and contribute. Tonight was a nice comeback.
