We certainly don't expect to get that many signatures from Brown County, but we can do our part.

I am tired of seeing Aberdeen and the Huntington Township being an orphan compared to the rest of the county ... I feel it is time we get our due credit for being an important part of Brown County.

That would leave 23 signatures for it to qualify. The count of total signatures was off by four from what was turned in. And we want to look at the rest (of the disqualified signatures) to see if something was missed. It's so close we could ask for a recount, too.

There's no guarantee they are even looking at a Schuyler-Brown combination. We always assumed it would be a Schuyler-Brown combination. They fit together so well. But it could be such a thing as a three-county combination or going a totally different direction ? Fulton-Schuyler, Adams-Brown.

We talked to the Washington County Clerk. She said all we needed was 76 signatures.

While Cindy Meyers, our county clerk, is -- the best way to put it -- validating the signatures, the board can't reduce themselves.

That's hundreds of thousands of dollars in tourism marketing that goes into all of those markets that brings tourism dollars back to Brown County and the surrounding area. That's a big part of this.

We looked at the county as part of the downtown. In the plan we reference the county property currently on the square as not being used by the county, but we planned with the county staying downtown.

We are now in the process of having the signatures verified with the municipal, city and provincial election registrars. We are verifying signatures as we gather them.

This group has gathered the necessary signatures. I do not know how you can argue with that. They did the work (of getting the signatures). We should respect that.

We are on track to gather the signatures we need, as well as a wealthy buffer because some signatures will not be valid.

We're over the half way point to reaching our goal of 1,000 signatures. On Friday we recorded 225 signatures and so far today (by 1 p.m.) we've had 300 people sign our petition.

We have more than 16,000 signatures already, shattering the previous record of 5,000 signatures many times over.

We can accommodate 1000 signatures, but customers today tend to select between 40 and 200 signatures depending in the application. They're looking for different things and they want to avoid false-positives.
