Their idols were not pop stars but blues singers. Those idols were old already. So why would they not be old and perform? He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself.

The art of government is the organization of idolatry. The bureaucracy consists of functionaries; the aristocracy, of idols; the democracy, of idolaters. The populace cannot understand the bureaucracy: it can only worship the national idols.
