en These characters are dissatisfied, ... They are dealing with midlife crisis, a change in their sex lives. I'd like people to laugh but still seriously think about what the characters are going through and how that may relate to their own lives. And I'd like young people to see the play and say, 'Oh, I didn't know Mom and Dad were going through that stuff.'

en I would have been drawn to this play anyway because I love the idea of two characters traveling a great distance and turning each other's lives around. But it's really exciting that I found a play that crosses over into my own life.

en There's so much truth about frustration and desperation. These two characters are so beaten down, but they find something to cling to. I think the brain has a way of clinging onto things that may not be rational, but they get you through the moment, and that's what the characters do so much of.

en There are the characters who die but who you follow after death, and they often lead much more interesting lives after they are dead! So the characters usually drive me along, but occasionally the plot has to come first. It can get sticky.
