It has been agreed that the status quo is the preferred option and the Australian Open will therefore remain in its traditional date in 2007, as opposed to the week later as previously proposed.

We've proposed a date. We're sticking to that date, but if others insist on pushing us further, there won't be a deal. We have done what has been asked of us. It was clear all week that the membership wanted us to make this offer.

I would've preferred to have the open date more toward the middle of the schedule. But it just wouldn't work.
