I think they're beginning ordsprog

en I think they're beginning to get a little more relaxed. The hardest part is just getting a basketball court sense. You can't teach that much. You can show them an offense and then they have to learn to react to what the defense is doing. They're starting to get that more and more each day.

en [Against Brown], we did a better job of dodging and aggressively trying to get to the goal. Also, when you play as many good defenses as we have, your offense starts to react to the defense rather than the defense react to the offense.

en There's an old basketball saying. You recruit offense; you teach guys how to play defense. Not saying anything about his defense - I'm saying that in general. I think his lateral movement is quick enough. That's what you look for.

en I think we were tight at the beginning. We wanted to move the ball around in the half-court offense a little more than we were, and I think the girls relaxed.

en I think we're all starting to come together and we're starting to learn the defense. And our offense is just clicking.

en Their half-court defense really prevented us from getting our offense going. Our steals were effective but so was their rebounding. I was pleased with our defense though, as we contested shots and were all over the basketball with pressure.

en This is a building block. We are getting better, the kids are starting to learn the offense and the flow and I'm proud of them. I think we are playing discipline basketball and our sportsmanship is there.

en We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense.

en Our defense has been carrying us. They always say that offense wins games, but defense wins championships. That?s starting to show through.

en Every game is still important. It's always tough on the road. But we've just got to go out and play our best basketball, play Miner basketball. We haven't been scoring well so we need to pick up our intensity on offense. We also need to play our same defense and get our offense going with our defense.

en This staff encompasses all the areas that need to be addressed. We have NBA experience. We have international experience. We have backgrounds to teach different styles of basketball, including zone offense and defense.
  Mike Krzyzewski

en Offenses may come up with a 20- or 25-play script to start a game. They add specific formations to see a defense react to it and use a specific motion to see what you are ready for. Really, those first 20 or 25 scripted plays may not have anything to do with down and distance. So, it is more reactive in a sense on offense, to see what the reaction will be.

en I can't say enough about our defense. They are doing what we teach them, to read, react and run.

en I think we've been playing good defense. I think our team is starting to come around ... but we still have a lot of work to do. We've got to slow them (the Red Raiders) down and take away their two main scorers. We've got to get our transition game going and run our half court offense better.

en I don't think anybody can teach anybody anything. I think that you learn it, but the young writer that is as I say demon-driven and wants to learn and has got to write, he don't know why, he will learn from almost any source that he finds. He will learn from older people who are not writers, he will learn from writers, but he learns it -- you can't teach it.
  William Faulkner
