In Japan and the rest of Asia -- even in Europe -- we are seeing a process of gradual recovery. That is bad news for the dollar and it has started the dollar down. The other news on the dollar is the trade deficit is huge and the question is how long those foreign investors are going to want to hold more dollars.

Under normal circumstances with this kind of figure, you would expect to see significant dollar weakening. The fact that you're not seeing that seems to indicate that people have quite a bit of appetite to take on long dollar positions.

The market hasn't been paying enough attention to inflation risks as it should. The prospect of an interest-rate move higher in the months ahead will mean the Australian dollar will find some friends.

If the dollar were close to 115 yen, I'm sure a bunch of guys would definitely try to trigger stop-loss orders (to push the dollar lower). But at the current level, no one will do so.
