en Sandy was a natural with organization of all the media passes and setting up the players for appearances, it was a really good fit for us since we'd already worked together. And it was really fresh to us because it was a new city and team.

en I think they're ready to except the responsibility of being the leaders of this team. The natural feeling for players is to hang on too long. But time marches on. We're setting the clock to players that are playing at the highest level right now.

en What caught me was the team. They have a couple young great players coming up. They have big boys, skill guys, a good coach, an organization that wants to win and a good city. They've got everything.

en I came here having played the game. I knew little about knowing what it takes to put a team together. I've learned from Sandy, through Billy and Paul. Sandy was a presence in the clubhouse and had the ability to build a rapport with the team. I think that helps guys feel comfortable. It all starts with Billy. Players respect the path he's been on. We want to run this thing like a business and take care of the employees.

en Nobody worked harder than Maz. I know he worked very, very hard at getting that team and their whole organization going in the right direction. But when it doesn't happen, you're accountable. That's the life of anybody who's in this position. If you're not moving the organization forward, they make you pass the baton to somebody else.
