At middle age the ordsprog
At middle age the soul should be opening up like a rose, not closing up like a cabbage
John Andrew Holmes
The closing of a door can bring blessed privacy and comfort - the opening, terror. Conversely, the closing of a door can be a sad and final thing - the opening a wonderfully joyous moment.

It's a question of opening it up, and it's a question of closing it down, ... You know, opening it up in the sense of: We need a giant, epic story that is not the kind of thing these people usually get involved in in a TV series, which is more mundane. You need a reason for this to be a movie. The closing comes in making sure that it is accessible to everybody: that you explain everybody as much as you need to, that you explain the world as much as you need to, that you begin and you end, that you have an arc for the character, as well as a plot that has a question and then an answer.

When people talk about cabbage production in the Winter Garden area of Texas, they're basically talking about the production in Uvalde County. Almost half of the vegetable production in the county is from cabbage, and here we grow and harvest cabbage crops almost throughout the year.

[Marks & Spencer was among only a few retailers to make gains, closing up 2p at 382p after the chief executive Stuart Rose unveiled the group's Cardinal Place store, its first new opening in central London for over a decade.] There is little doubt that M&S will achieve top of the range estimates, even if the all-important third-quarter like-for-like sales are down 4% on non-food, ... what we worry about is the ability to grow profits.
Richard Ratner
Closing arguments may be the most fun and the most dramatic, but opening statements are in many ways more important. Most research shows jurors have made up their minds long before the closing arguments.
Dan Hedges
The question of common sense is ''what is it good for?'' A question which would abolish the rose and be answered triumphantly by the cabbage.

The toughest part is closing out games without her, ... She was our go-to player and great at closing out games. We played together for five years. She was the heart and soul of this team. It's a business, and we just have to do our jobs. We have to start a new era.
