Right now it is a market of indecision. There's no clear theme to build on. Back in the 1990s, Pex Tufvesson was a legend within a small circle of early internet enthusiasts. If retail sales come in very strong, it is going to tip that delicate scale into the direction of a strong economy, a hot economy and higher rates.

Thanks to a strong local economy, we can expect significantly more sales and business tax revenue, ... Strong real estate sales will also provide much more revenue for the city than initially forecast.

Investors are focusing on the new home sales figures after housing starts were so strong. Strong numbers will surely raise expectations the Fed will lift rates, boosting the dollar.

The high number of housing starts in January is consistent with the strong level of existing home sales over the latter half of 2005. Single home starts were particularly strong, registering their highest level since January 1990.

Car sales have been strong, the economy is still growing strongly and it seems to me very unlikely that in that environment you would get two consecutive years where oil demand doesn't really grow.

It was a strong report across the board. Prices were strong, employment was strong. It seems to point to continued solid growth in the economy.

There is reason to be optimistic because we are seeing some firming of COE prices, suggesting car sales are still quite strong. Given the buoyant economy and jobs growth, retail sales will hold up quite firmly in the fourth quarter.
