Calzaghe is not our focus. We simply don't need the fight,

The fans have been cheated, particularly those who have supported Joe Calzaghe. There was no reason to take this fight. There was no upside to this fight. Calzaghe wanted a way out and he found it. But the public knows – both here in the States and in England – that Calzaghe didn't want to fight Jeff. Jeff was willing to go to Wales, to London, it didn't make a difference. Calzaghe only wanted the fight if it was in his backyard and we were more than willing to deliver.

We will still fight on November 5th. Everyone had
been telling me all along to have a backup plan because Calzaghe was going
to fallout. I had too much respect and trust for Frank Warren and Joe
Calzaghe to do that but those days are over.

And I just reject that conception of how struggles should be waged.

The Tarver loss bothered me for a while simply because I knew why I lost that fight. It wasn't because of my skills; it was my lack of preparation. I took too much time off. I had a dream after the fight. I won the fight. But in my fight record I was losing. Not just me but the media and all boxing fans wait for a second fight. And I will be very happy to fight him again but it does not depend on me.

Yes. And I believe there's no comparison. We tried to get Brock for the last fight, we tried to get Brock for this fight and it's plain to see that his people are not interested in fighting me. I don't care what they say, they'd prefer to keep him away from people like me. Even though they've got no TV dates coming up, they'd prefer for him to fight a Kenny Craven or a David Bostice somewhere off TV. The bottom line is, they don't want to take the risk with me. I don't have anything personal against the guy. He's ranked in the WBC#13 and I'm ranked #14. All that stuff he was saying to Boxingtalk the other day, the bottom line is, he don't want to fight. And that's basically he what he admitted. He'd prefer to fight Vinny Maddalone over me. Jameel stepped up and now we're going to focus on Jameel.

I suspected all along that Calzaghe didn't want any of this. I kinda prepared myself for it but it is still disappointing.
